I appreciate your review of Icebreaker , perhaps wanting to find the merit in it as the continuation of the Bond story but being objective on where it fails as literature. I guess the "Ice palace" was the villain lair used in the film 'Die another day'?. I also very much enjoyed your family travel anecdote about trying to buy the Bond poster in japan, and failing.
Cheers, Steve. That trip was 1983, I believe. And sadly, I haven't been overseas since. I always wondered about the 'Ice Palace', because you're right there was the Ice Palace in Die Another Day—but the Bond producers (at that time) seemed adamant NOT to use any material from the Bond continuation authors—they didn't want to have to pay them for the rights, when instead they could write their own stories. So, I have to guess it's a co-incidence... but you never know.
